This is real nice... how does it handle, Tom? Any specific problems to watch out for in using it Did you use a rail with it

Cheers, Bee

Thanks Bee, I used a tripod but no rail , don't have one yet. No real problems, a rail would be much better than moving the tripod. My shots would be better if I had one. I used natural light, but used selective color in PS ( black ) to give more shadow effect. It handles like a rev. 50 but more DOF lattitude.

Glad to see you are playing with the mp65. All the shots that I did were Hand Held. That said If you are getting a focusing rail, Look at really right stuff there new one plus the elevation part is execellent. You might also KEEP checking B&H used I brought mine for $609 there were three of them there they were gone in about an hour. They were refurnbishised.

Try Hand held at 2X with bright light fill and a good pair of knee pads.

Tom does "playing with" mean you have acquired it for yourself. These shots are outstanding. Are you using the 550X with the MP-E?

Thanks for the info bud, i hope i wasn't to hard on you about the dirt on your sensor. This lens shur brings it out , I had to clean mine and do a little PS on some. This is a cool lens , one of our members has loned it to me to play with for awhile, how cool is that. And I don't really know him that well, I have responded to you more than him, if that tells you anything. I'll try to get the link to the rail you mentioned and add it to our list. What is your name??

Thanks Mickey, no I wish . it's on lone till the end of the month. I haven't used flash yet. I really haven't shot but about 30 pics with it so far, just in the back yard. I hope to get out this week for 1/2 a day and try to capture some good stuff.

You had ask me about the DOF with the MP-E. SO !!!!! tell us. What do you think of the DOF with this lens? Do you see a difference between it and the reversed 50?
BTW I got the Novoflex Standard L rail from B&H for I think it was $230 and a Quick Release from Acratech. Works very well.

Mickey i would say that the 65 has 40 to 50 % more DOF than the 50 rev. , On a DSLR. Maybe less, compared to one of the G2,3,or 5's that would be intresting to test also. At this time I would lean towards the 65 as opposed to the purchase of a new G5. Post a pic of your set up and I'll put it in Macro resources. Glad it's working out.

Jack I don't think you need anything else you just need to learn to use what you have, ahahahahaha . Just kidding Jack, no nasty PM or Email please. It is a neat lens. I hope to have some good shot latter. I may not out shot Smeets but I'll try.

I like the effect in #1 Tom. If you could retake it without the thing in the bottom right corner it would be awesome. What is MP-E 65?

Tom I agree with your assessment on the DOF for the MP-E. I thought the DOF for the reverse 50 was much less than the MP-E. Here are the pics you ask for.
