yeah good luck with the brown shirt brigade. you have a better chance of trying to go to the location and pick it up if its not on the truck.

looks like Mr. Chin on his website has his hyperdrives on permanent backorder. which means when he collects enough orders he orders a batch and then ships them out.

I would like to know from people who have received their orders when their chredit cards or accounta have been charged... was it right after the placed the order or only a couple of days before the units where shipped..

Please post that info...I would like to know!

Thanks

Received my HD80 this morning - (ordered - Feb 28th) I missed the first delivery attempt and the note left by UPS stated there was "Brokerage C.O.D." which puzzled me since this was all supposed to be covered. However, when I actually received the unit the bill clearly stated the $8.74 charge was for Canadian GST - 8% & PST - 7% taxes. (Total value for calculating taxes was stated at $58.24)

Delivery was super fast to Ontario Canada - parcel left California March 22 at 2:48 pm and first delivery attempt was made March 23 at 10:30 a.m.

I have learned that indeed this seems to be a garage operation - which I have no problem with - however, I do agree that communication with your customers is important and should be a priority. I would not have been concerned about the long delay if I had received some direct communication about shortage of product (not just a notice on the website) causing the delay instead of wondering if I had been scammed.

EDIT: My credit card was charged right after I placed my order on February 28th.

you will notice that the operative words are shipped or BILLED on the 23rd. that means that the computerized paperwork was submitted by the shipper (can be done online) on the 23rd. the actual p/u may have been on the 24th and that when the clock starts. then of course you throw in sat/sun (oops its the weekend. no delivery w/o a high tariff) and time is theoretically infinite along with the relative curvature of space and through magic 2 days is now 4-5. ain't math great?

and as jhom said it will be delivered no earlier then they have stated. i take it its a residential delivery. you can call and try and force the issue. sending them harsh emails will be a waste. i have gotten positive results.

If it doesn't say "Out for delivery" by now, then have a nice weekend fuming over why it wasn't delivered earlier. Serenity now...serenity now....

If you called now, you might be able to get them to "hold at station" and be able to pick it up before 6pm at their depot.

Lol. UPS seems to be the problem here...

In Transit

Scheduled Delivery: 03/27/2006
Shipped to: COLUMBIA, SC, US
Shipped or Billed on: 03/23/2006
Service Type: 2ND DAY AIR
Weight: 2.00 Lbs

My question is... How do you fit 2 days between 23rd and 27th? That's NOT 2nd day delivery. 2nd day delivery would be send on 23rd, received 24th/25th.

And what's more...
WEST COLUMBIA, SC, US 03/23/2006 9:05 P.M. DESTINATION SCAN
03/23/2006 3:24 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
03/23/2006 3:17 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
03/23/2006 12:28 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN

It arrived in West Columbia (which is a truly tiny city) at 3:24 PM yesterday.

Are you seriously asking this question? 25 and 26 are Saturday and Sunday. whenever companies quote numbers of days, they mean BUSINESS days. Is this news to you?

And what are you guys - kids waiting for Santa? It's a backup device for pete's sake, not elixir of eternal youth...

, they sure d o seem like it. I can understand though, it's always tough waiting on the brown truck for your new toy to arrive.

BTW, that UPS track just says to me it's hit the hub, wait until you see the "Out For Delivery" scan to start watching for the truck. Unless you paid for Saturday delivery, I'd expect Monday to be the day.

On second thought, it is insanity now...insanity now... with all this ordering and delivery angst.

You might want to charge the batteries using an external charger rather than the one in the unit. Some individuals have reported some initial problems with the supplied batteries being charged in the unit. Good luck on your new unit.

Well, I charged 4 in a SONY charger, and 4 inside the unit. Am using the unit now with the 4 batteries charged on it. It took nearlly 4 hours to charge 4 2300 batteries in the SONY charger, and almost 5 hours in the unit's own charger. I'm testing it right now. I just copied the same card 6 times into the unit, and now am dumping that on the computer, and yes, it's slow when connected to a computer, but even with file verification on, the copy time from card to HD80 unit isn't slower than copying the same card into the computer. Transferring from the HD80 unit to the computer follows the same, it's as fast as copying images from the card into the computer ( using a USB2.0 card reader ).

All in all, it works fine as a "giant memory card", as means of storing my photos in some temporary, reusable media, so I can reuse my current memory cards, and it does it, for now, in a seamless working way. All in all, I'm happy.

And considering they managed to deliver this without problems and hassle to Brazil, that's an even bigger bonus

Have you considered that they could just be utterly swamped with orders and understaffed to boot?

I'm sure that's true. However the question was is it a garage operation, and the answer is yes. I've driven by the address as it happens to be a block from my work, and it's a residential condo complex. As I stated, I have no problem with that. However I emailed them to see if I could just pick one up in person when they have stock, and got no reply. Shrug.

Someone stick a fork in this thread, it's done

Well, they don't seem to ship in order received. I ordered/paid (paypal) on 11th March. I emailed yesterday, asking for delivery estimate, got auto reply, then today got tracking number for ups, but not yet picked up, afaik. Delivery should be 27th March. As mentioned by others, I think it is being beaten by its own success. Maybe a delay if drives to be fitted, too.

Can someone clarify this point. Does Hyperdrive take credit cards or to use a credit card must you go through PenPal?
