Don't dislike them at all, had an F3 and an FM, both solid cameras.
Just ended up liking the EOS system a little better is all, at the time back
in 1986 I changed for the EOS for it's focusing ability...

There is a ton of vitriol spewed by both sides of the aisle, and we all know that. People are beyond loyal to their brands. Nikon sucks, Canon rules. Canon sucks, Nikon rules...etc...I'm just wondering where it all comes from...
I would be suprised if that many people 'really' dislike Nikon, and if that was all there was, they would, in fact, be very happy with Nikon.
People don't like to think that there 'might' be something better out there, and they actually bought second best. So, they gather together for some collective bashing of the other side. It's a bit like a gang, if you are not in the 'Canon' gang, you must have a crap camera (or visa versa for the Nikon gang).
Personally I think it is a crazy way of going on. There is no 'one' company that does everything the 'best'. You pays your money, you takes your choice. I don't see the need to bash other people's equiment simply to feel better about my own.
Dave-
I happen to agree with you. No one wants to believe what they have isn't the best. They need to justify what they have by belittling what else is out there. When I decided to pick up a d2x to go with my 1ds2, there were several members of this community who shared their not-so-subtle thoughts on Nikon with me, and such silly behavior is truly vexing...these arent sports teams, these are companies...

I think it is more than not liking Nikon or Canon but maybe not liking some of the people that use either Canon or Nikon.
People who take their camera brand too seriously have other problems to consider.
It's like Ford/Chevy trucks. But I can recall in the 70's Nikon people looking down at
my Pentax or Canon. As recent as last year at Bosque del Apache...guy gets out of his rental car-armed with all things Nikon-looks over at my 20D 100-400 and says
" oh that's a nice little camera ". Hmmm seems some Nikon owners are rather full of themselves but I feel the playing field is more level. Pro's use both, they're tools
after all, but my Fords ARE better than your Chevy's!
Already in the other forum someone grouped 'canon users' and something about boneheaded ideas together...im waiting for it to pop up in here...fairly well respected members of this community on both sides of the aisle are beyond zealots when it comes to their gear...
Canon has better ads. Andre Agassi, those National Geographic endangered animal shots. Nikon has a rhinoceros tearing through a neighborhood and "see the lightography" (). The ads prove that Canon is a hip, yet environmentally responsible, company, whereas Nikon's ads seem disconnected from reality. I'd rather my money support the cooler company.
