stop guessing, why dont we just break into Canon HQ, just like the WaterGate Affair with form President Nixon, to find out exactly what they will introduce to the market.
Just realized how much id love a better wide angle primes. from reviews almost all of them are bad up until app. f/4 or so. I havnt heared any speculations though so i dont know.
I would also like to see a 200/2.8L IS or even more esoteric a 135/2L IS.
I think it all comes down to what price point they'll hit. I think Canon is really good at pricing things in such a way that they don't make any clear winners. In that I mean that they offer functionality and price such that all the lenses have similar "value".
Take the 70-200/4L, to a 70-300IS, to a 70-200/2.8 to a 70-200/2.8IS. Throw in the 100-400/L IS, and even the 300/4L. Factoring price and capability, I think all the lenses have similar "value". To me, it is really easy to talk my self from one to the other in $200-400 dollar jumps. - Not saying that I actually have the money to do it They obviously have different purposes and strengths, but I find myself going from one to the other.
I guess what I'm saying is that I doubt Canon would offer a lens that has properties and price that just make it the stand-out "value". That is why I wish for a 70-200/4L, but I fear that either it won't be made, or it will be priced so that I just add one more star to my constellation of possibilities.
I'm speaking as an amatuer, obviosly for pros the equations change.
I'm off to take some pictures to cleanse my self of all this gear talk.

to add a floating rear lens group and get rid of electronically-linked MF, giving it proper FTM. can't do that if the contacts are floating in the rear element like they are now.
That dolls site also said it would have IS, which would be the greatest thing ever.
i cant really make an accurate time of release but for me the two things im hoping for and that i will buy are the 1dmkIII and im hoping canon will release an ultra wide angle a tad wider than the 14mm with sharpness from corner to corner and well corrected. im also hoping that they have started r&d on higher res optics to deal with the ultra high res cams like the future 1dmkIII
50mm 1.2L instead of a rehash of the 1.0 lens for a few reasons. Cost, Weight, Size. I would expect the 50 1.2L to be in the $500 to $750 range and if I remember correctly, the 1.0 was big...real big, and heavy. This lens, along with a rerelease of the 200 1.8 would be geared to PJ's and SportsShooters mainly. There is definately a need amoung high school sports shooters for both lenses. Being able to focus in low lit gyms would be great. Even though I strobe my events, my 70-200 2.8 does not focus any quicker than if I was not using the strobes, so, having a 200 focusing at 1.8 or a 50mm focusing at 1.2 would be a very big help.
I'd like a fast wide prime and a 70-200 f/4 IS, even though I also just purchased a non-IS f4. Camera-wise, I don't really care. I'll keep my 350D for quite some time to come (seeing as I could spend the body-upgrade money on so many better things).
What I think'll come is, like many others said, a 35D-esque camera and a consumer-uberzoom. I haven't bought into the new 85L hype just yet.
Every year we all eagerly await a new raft of Canon lenses from PMA and every year we go away with pretty much nothing> I personally haven't seen a lens released in 3 years that has been of any interest at all, not even the 24-105 f/4L IS.
I'll bet we get the same lame response this year from Canon too. Oh look it's another average performing consumer zoom; whoopee.
The chances of seeing updated 100-400, 400 f/5.6L IS, 70-200 f/4L IS, UWA prime, 100-300 f/4L IS, etc etc are buckley's, squat and none.
I'm thinking Winter Olympics = sports shooting stuff ; timing is coincidental with PMA as well. So think dim light sports shooting (200/2IS) and maybe an interesting high performance zoom.

Id love to see a 7D type camera. but doubt they would release it same time as 35D, which is much more awaited as it would cut income. The 18-70 would also cut profits on the 17-85 as no one would buy bot the 17-85 and 17-70, they are way to similar for that, so doubt it. I thought the 350D was prety new. personaly i dont see a big need for an upgrade there.
Yea, the 7D would be great, but I don't see any features that could be reduced—what could they possibly take out from the 5D? A few pixels? The 30D/35D is more likely.
Between a 'minor update' and a full body replacement of the 20D, about 70% of the repondants are expecting a camera replacement. If it _doesn't_ happen, people are going to be surprised!
I am surprised that the sub-Rebel (3000D) option has received so few votes. A good chunk of votes for the 7-200 f/4 w/ IS, but I suspect this is more based on optimism than expectation.
Given how large the IDs line of cameras are, if this is 'close enough' it might find a really good niche. I must be the only person around who thinks the size of the 350D is a good thing...
I'm looking at purchasing a 100-400mm IS, but maybe I'll wait until after the PMA. Of course it sound like if they do replace it, it will be with something more expensive.
