i'd probably be willing to do it if it's okay for people with glasses.

if not, i'd be a little hesitant, as i'd have to get contact lenses first

You would probably be better off without the big eyecup. I wind up taking my glasses off when I use it because of the eyecup.

i'm not wild about the eyecup anyway. i'm just in it for the magnification. i'd worry it might poke me in the eye if i bring up the camera to my eye quickly on the street.

i tried taking my glasses off and it's a night and day difference. maybe i should join the rest of you and ditch them while shooting.

Does anybody know what is the difference between the Nikon DK-2 and DK019 eyecups? Is there any advantage in using one vs the other?

I know the OP used a DK-2 but I noticed that in the link below, a DK-19 is used:

Thanks!

I made my version today
all the same parts except for the cup
since the one listed was discontinued according to my dealer

I spent about an hour with my dremmel and a cylindrical grinder
first i grinded down the threads on the magnifier then grinded down the eyeppiece converter
the plastic took much longer

I used my caliper to meaure each to be sure it would be a snug fit
best part is that i didnt need any glue., i did buy some but its such a nice snug fit (snug but doesnt feel like any parts are being stressed)

Here are some pics

I have noticed that since it sticks out about an inch or so
i can knock it off fairly easily.

Anyone know anything about the Nikon D21-M Magnifying Eyepiece for the Nikon D200?

They've got it in stock at B&H but neither Nikon nor B&H have a picture or description of it. I'm wondering if this might obsolete this modified magnifying eyepiece we've all been making or looking for parts to make.

B&H just notified me of shipment of my DK-21M and I should probably receive it Friday or Monday. As soon as I get it I will test it on my 20D and let y'all know.

Thanks Terse22. Looking forward to hearing what this is exactly. Post a pic of it if you can please. I noticed that it sold out pretty quick at B&H.

Just got the Dk-21M , it fits on to the 20D and the D60 with out any surgery. The view thru the magnifying eye piece does appear bigger and definitely helps in Manual focusing.

Oh, I saw this some place but I can't remember. It is less than the DK-17. Around 1.3 I think, but I've got no reference. Hopefully someone more clueful will come along shortly...

The Dk-21M offers 1.17 magnification, the DK-17 offers a magnification of 1.2.

At $30 Dk-21M is totally worth it, the total setup of Dk-17 costs much more.

Nori,

Is there any vignetting? Also, I wonder if it would work the same on a FF 5D.

Hi Andrew, there is a slight vignetting at the corners, nothing significant. On a 5D it might vignette more

I also heard that the one for Olympus E-500 fits on XT, but haven't confirmed yet by myself...
