The lightsphere II works WAY better than the photojournalist. I sold the photojournalist a couple of days after getting it. The lighting was just way to uneven. I LOVE my lightsphere. I have yet to find anything else that gives such even lighting.

so the lighsphere is way better than the stofen omnibounce?

I wanted to get one or the other this week. The thing that puts me off the LS is the look. I think it will just get clients quizzed and maybe make a rig look a bit home made. The omnibounce is discreet and it seems the results are similar from what i've seen....am I alone in thinking that image/client impressions are important?

Morgan,

First impressions are important, but not as important as lasting impressions, which come from the images you capture.

I've used the LSII in a number of venues. I've gotten a few questions, but nothing negative. I have not had a OB, so I can't say, but the light from the LSII is greatly improved over bare strobe.

I've been using the LS2 for most of the summer and have the pj version on order.

Getting quality lighting without lugging around studio lights has been a constant challange for me, and for many others I'm sure.

I can get pretty good results with my LS2, although it's not the complete answer to the problem. One thing I've done of late is have an assistant carry the LS2 on an SB800 (doing a Statue of Liberty imitation) while I use a Lumiquest softbox on my on-camera flash as fill.

Going to be interesting to see how the pj compares. With my LS2, I've found I get the best results by keeping the dome on, nearly all the time.

Hey, Gary - I've checked out your site before but didn't know you posted here. My ad (uniqueday.com) is often next to yours in the NH list on wedj.com.

Hmmm.. the LS is worth it IMHO.. just damn bulky and attracts too much attention..

What's wrong with attention? Actually, just last night I was walking around the reception with my camera hanging low on it's strap wondering why I was getting such interesting glances from the ladies. I guess that LS does look like a rather large John Thomas
