I just picked up a 24mm 1.4L as a low-light walk-around lens and am equally happy with that choice on the 20d. I think, going on some of the photos in this thread, that a 35L could well be joining it soon, especially if I pick up a 1dII at xmas time.
Top photos everyone.

Took these 2 of my buddy trout fishing yesterday.

Lighting was a bit of a challenge as it was changing drastically from one spot to another.

Geo, the monk shot is gorgeous. Is that digital? If so, that's one of the best looking digital images I've seen.

weatherbox,
Thank you very much. Yup, both monk shots are digital (RAW from 1DsMkII, converted using Capture 1 Pro 3.7.1 and processed using Adobe CS). Which one do you like better?

Each is gorgeous, though the colors of the Buddhist monk are really wonderful, like something out of Steve McCurry's book. Does Capture 1 make a difference for you over Adobe CS converter? I've yet to be really happy with my digital images, whereas I have no trouble processing my film scans... if you don't mind me asking, what's your typical processing workflow like? If my images were looking like yours, I'd likely be shooting less film.

Hi Eamonn,
Of course, the lens is awsome to begin with.... During the RAW conversion, I increase the color intensity by 5% and everything else is at the default setting. Somehow, I have been using Capture 1 for about 3 years, I like the workflow and am happy with the results (I am sure Michael Tapes likes to hear that). From time to time, I venture into the Adobe conversion mode, since it was readily available but I always go back to C1. I sent you an e-mail for more details on the CS workflow....

Thanks a lot guys...this thread prompted me to sell my 17-40, 50/1.4, 70-200 IS so I can buy a 35mm f/1.4L (just ordered from Onecall), and a 135mm f/2L. Can't wait till Thursday when I get the lens.

Oh and by the way...Anna Yu...your photos are truly inspiring.

Yes Anna Yu rocks!! Her photos are truly unique.

I am hoping to get a 35 L soon.
keeping my 17-40 L though, its a nice walk around lens, it compliments my 135 L .

Just got the 35L because of this thread a few hours ago, and since I don't have a cat...had to take pictures of my bicycle...at f/1.4:

Canon should be paying you guys for all the free marketing they are getting. Payment in L lenses should suffice.

I'll take two, please . Seriously though, had the lens been only so so, we would have not raved about it.
