Clear the custom setting and camera settings on your main LCD menu...The camera works perfectly now...at least it does for me...the files convert faster also.
I think there was something that needed clearing in the camera CPU...hope it works for Ya'll who are suffering with bad focusing..
Is this pic more like what we been expectin' ??....ROFL
Oh yeah baby..

Hahaha...Oh man...I been suffering bigtime with this cam...glad it's over with...darned cameras are more computers than cameras anymore...must have been a hangup in there somewhere...anyway...this is exactly why I bought the camera...
I'm thrilled...that plus the AI Focus setting...man..that is an amazing setting for my golf because say if Tiger Woods starts to move with an exciting fist pump I'll it automatically shifts to AI Servo and I got'em in perfect focus...Whew...I had the box out and was getting ready to send it to Canon repair...I'll bet that's all they are doing...clear settings and ship it back to everyone...ROFL

I just cleared all the settings, custom or otherwise...then I set my manually selected center focus point, changed to RAW, and set my parameters again...Perfect.

Heck...do what you want...the worst you'll have to do is reset and try it again.
I think it was just a camera CPU glitch, nothing more, you should be able to use whatever setting you choose to use.
I cleared all settings...there are 2 categories to change/clear

Hopefully, others can use this method to take care of their 10Ds.

I'll keep that in mind when I get my 10D...

I hear you there...whew...all of my shots were soft...couldn't sharpen thenm enough to make then presentable without frying the file...I'm totally relieved...I bought this as a second camera with hope it would allow me to take some more specialized shots with more detail than the 1D...Man was I down in the dumps when I saw the results...Now I can see that Canon was right on the make when they promised more detailed photographs.

Larry,

Did you look at the custom functions prior to the complete reset. I'm still trying to understand what was actually reset, if everything seemed to be "set" normally before.

Larry,

You might have stumbled on something big here... a lot of folks are complaining about soft focus, etc. I don't have the problem (yet), but sounds like you really did have a problem and ALSO found a way to correct it... GREAT news.. I'll keep this tidbit handy.

Well, they appeared to be on default...I really don't mess with the custom functions...my 1D is pretty much on default settings except for maybe 4 changes...so I think it was a camera CPU glitch...maybe corrupted in production line somewhere.

The camera just didn't fine focus...the pictures were pretty, but I took my wifes Sony 717 on the same flower picture and achieved more detail...the picture above was impossible to achieve before I cleared the settings...I tried everything, every F stop..nothing helped...now the files appear in Breeze Browser faster, don't have noise, and convert faster. In processing the files are much deeper than previous files...there was some kind of glitch in the camera cpu...I'm sure of that now...May it had too many "COOKIES" in it...ROFL

ROFL...I don't know why it wouldn't help others...pretty simple to try anyway...before they spend a 100 bucks on shipping to Canon repair.

Hello Larry - Sounds like you'r having a blast with the new camera. In your honest opinion -- is the resolution on the 10d a whole lot better than the 1D -- I know it's great for the price. I'm mainly talking about using it for in studio group type shots of say 10-20 kids -- like a dance studio shot. You know I value your imput on this, and I'm sure I'll get one for a backup within the next couple of weeks anyway.
Thanks for your help as usual.

Well...I just tried this cure about a couple of hours ago so I did the only thing I could and took a few shots in the office to see what was up...I'll put up a few pics tomorrow...all I can say at the moment is the files are very rich...I really only sharpened this pic at medium...I didn't even go for more sharpening I was so darned overjoyed.

I believe this camera will furnish the resolution you are looking for... we'll see tomorrow...the detail is excellent...plus, they have a focus setting other than "one shot" and "AI Servo" called "AI Focus"

This AIFocus is amazing...if you use it and your subject starts moving and you are focused on the subject, it automatically switches to AI Servo...you still in business...wish the 1D had it to be honest.

Right on Frances...same with the 1D...those auto points seek contrast and you could miss the subject...the manually selected point puts you in total control...I use the expanded points for AI Servo for birds and the Manually selected point in AI Servo for slower moving action.
