The speculation is the six invisible sensors will aid in AI Servo. The invisible sensors will help "handoff" the moving subject to the next sensor. This is of course pure speculation.

I'd be happier if the speculation also said that the invisible sensors allowed AF with an f/8 lens or lens/TC combination. Then again, with that big viewfinder, perhaps AF isn't such an issue.

OK! $500 for the IS! No wonder the 17-85 IS got bad reviews cosidering Canon only had $75 to make the lens after installing the IS mechanism!

The 75-300 IS must have really cheap optics
you have to remember this lens(75-300) has the first generation of IS......and if i remember correctly it was the first or among the first of the IS lenses....optically it is close to one of the 75-300 non IS consumer lenses...

I think the only new piece of information in that article is that canon has announced that on august 22nd they will be announcing 33 new products. The 5D part is speculation based on the assumption that the rumors are planned leaks.
Maybe I misread it, my french isn't spectacular.
My french is spectacular (I'm French so of course it helps) and they do confirm that the rumors concerning the 5D and the 24-105 are true.
They do not confirm a 1D mkIII or 1D mkIIN though.

I'm not denying that Canon will introduce a new (DSLR) camera next week, I'm just doubting the accuracy of the alleged PDF. It seems to me to be a draft with a lot of filler; some of the writing is not in the style of what a released spec'd sheet would be.
I am also having a hard time with the 1dMKIIN , they never announced 2 at once , not a Canon thing to do.
There were some film cameras years ago, when Canon introduced 2 at a time.

Speaking of us old farts that did it manually and how technology is were it is at today . Well i kinda am going backwards i bought a FILM camera yes FILM camera a Leica R9 with NO AF or motor or AF points . Now i know you guys think i may have just jumped back into my tye dye outfit but i did get a DMR back and it is on it's way. So maybe i did not go back that far but now i get that sweet sound of a shutter from a mechnical body
Well congratulations with your DMR
How long will you need to wait?
There's a photographer who's sure all that glitters is gold
And he's buying a stairway to heaven
And when he gets there he knows if B&H is closed
With a credit card he can get what he came for

Wonderfull
At least, the article by CI was good for something: we got your awesome post

Oh yeah, I'll need to do that. This might finally get me to do 'the switch' Since this is pretty much the camera I was watiting for. But the price tag is still steep (for me)

[...] Just s FYI I am planning on doing a full report on the merits of the 1dsMKII and the DMR and show some examples of the same images from both so we can analize what different styles of sensors they are using and results. It won't be a DMR vs a Canon but more fact finding mission on there attributes . i think it will be very educational for a lot of folks. i have no place to place this dialogue so I hope Fred will give me some leeway to post it on the Canon Forum so we can see the difference that 2 Oem's can produce...Show more →
Although that equipement is way out of my league, it certainly will be a very interesting report. This Leica gear is kind of fascinating... Guy, if you're interested, I can offer you to host this future report of yours. At the moment I have lots of free space which I don't use, since I have no time to work on my future homepage, and I'm sure even if I work on it an eventually put it online I'll still have some free mbytes

Thanks Phillippe. I think Fred will allow me the space as long as i keep it within the realm of canon and not this vs that which i don't want to do anyway . It is not a this vs that for me it is two sensors working to achieve a common goal and that is produce great images. I have no desire to get rid of all my Canon gear what's left of it , it is a very viable system with all the bells and whistles it provides for photographers. I am even planning on the 5d it will be a perfect event camera and a great backup to the 1dsMKII. I will just be a 2 system shooter...Show more →
I really look forward for this comparison. Leica is a bit out of my reach, but it for me still today the strongest brand name in photography.
You will be a two system shooter? You will be a Leica lens shooter with two different bodies
I am following the leica / canon /adapter / dmr closely since i am interestedin the lenses. I saw a 28-90 on the for sale section that I am interested in . But incase youhave not read, there are several reports out there on the dmr. Here are som links I have found with pictures.
