#1 I'm wondering why the CDI story is considered a 'confirmation' when they clearly indicate their source is the already suspect PDF. They did add that they are going to a big press announcement with Canon next week, but everybody already expects Canon to add lots of items before christmas season.
As I started this discussion, I can tell you that Chasseur d'Images is not saying the source of information is the PDF file. They are giving a link to this document because it is the REAL specs of the 5D.
The press announcement from Canon France is Monday 22nd August. It is OFFICIAL.
Therefore, I don't understand your comments.
It isn't official until they announce it; Canon could change their mind tomorrow and decide to become the world's largest karaoke equipment manufacturer.

Being in Japan I will be sure to get my name on a waiting list for the 5D. This is the camera I have been waiting for.
(Note to those who care: Now that the 5D has been confirmed, the price of wide CZ glass like the 21mm may start to rise. Get one now as the prices are likely to go through the roof once people actually get this camera in hand...)
I was singing "Stairway to Heaven" on my Canon 5D 2.8L Karaoke machine, but I sounded soft in the corners. So I went out & bought a wide Zeiss microphone and plugged it in. Then I sang "Another Brick in the Wall" and it sounded really sharp!
Seems to me that this is still spurious; the spec sheet is in a combination of Spanish and English and originates from a website in Romania (based on the .ro URL). Why would Canon Europe do such a thing (much less Canon HQ)? Of course I could easily have egg on my face come Aug 22...

I think the only new piece of information in that article is that canon has announced that on august 22nd they will be announcing 33 new products. The 5D part is speculation based on the assumption that the rumors are planned leaks.
I'm still shocked at the focal length and f4 min for a new pro lens. All they had to do was add IS to the 24-70L and perfection, another buyer in me and many others I know (but alas, everyone's needs are different). I venture to say that this lens is aimed at the serious amateur market, as most Canon Pro shooters have a 70-200, so too much overlap for most. That also means that the 5D is for this same market, and in a year or year and a half, the EOS 3D will come out with 5 FPS and 1/250th sync and all other things cool like this. Although, I'm one pro who will probably buy the 5d only if it's full frame.
None needed, Mr. Joe. Absolutely excellent! Only trouble is...a friend of the sister of a guy that went to school with my former nephew told me that Robert Plant is a Nikon shooter. Of course, this could be wrong...but then I'm sure it'll all be revealed come Aug 22nd.

It seems to have 9 AF points just like 20D. Then it has 6 more invisble ones. On 20D, there are 6 sensors around the center one. So, I speculate that those 6 invisibles ones are arranged to somehow collaborate with the 6 ones. On 20D, only the center one is (+) type sensor. And others are all (-) type. So, I guess they added 6 more (|) types ?

Of course, this could be wrong...but then I'm sure it'll all be revealed come Aug 22nd.
