WOW! a 20D(ish) house and a 70-200! no wonder he is using a monopod! that is some heavy sh*t right there!

Reminded me of "monopod man" posted in the early days of this thread!

Thats just weak! i handhold my 1DIIN with the 500 if the target and location/light allows me to!

Shot this today handheld!

You don't always have time. I sometimes stay with the regular shutter release if I'm in a hurry.

So you are cooler than him, just because you handhold something that's heavier? Do you think he would use it if he knew he could get just as good shots without it? There is a purpose behind a monopod, which I suppose is, to help getting sharper images under tricky conditions.

The fact that you can handhold a 1-series with a 500mm doesn't really tell us much about your own photographic skills.

Forrest, what were you doing with that combo? Golf? Birding?

You guessed...I was birding...specifically, checking out an Eagle's nest that's quite a ways from the road. Sadly, nothing was on the nest at the time. With that combo I can just about fill the viewfinder with the nest (for those not familiar with Eagles, the nests are rather large).

I only mentioned the combo to show that you can get decent quality photos with stacked extenders.

Wow nice Forrest! only tried my 500mm with a 1.4X but you sure get nice quality with even more extenders!
