maybe i should have started a new thread...

I know that there are certain spots in certain events that are good, but when I'm out on the campus quad shooting for the fun of it and all of a sudden there are three or four other people there shooting the exact same corner of a square building... it's just really annoying, especially when some of them get out tripods and interlock their legs in mine...*groan*. did i mention the quad is an acre slab of concrete and some weather-beaten trees? all the buildings look alike, can't they find another one?

I was kind of hoping to see a picture of myself in here. Last weekend at the RedBull Dragsterday in Detroit one of the contract RedBull photographers let me use his 300 f2.8 IS lens for an hour.

It is amazing how my attention you attract with one of those HUGE white lenses.

For you big lens shooters. I just purchased a Bogen monopod with a 3229 swivel head. The swivel head doesn't allow me to shoot in the vertical position. I was wondering if you need a special tripod collar to shoot vertically? Or is it the monopod/tripod head itself?

I don't understand the question? do you mean shooting at the sky?
or do you mean shooting in portrait configuration?

for shooting in portrait config, just loosen the tripod collar of the big lens. and twist
