I understand there was an outstanding 85mm f1.8 Takumar (hard to find). I got my adapter at Camerquest. Yes, everything is manual. Focus manually with lens wide open. Set shutter speed manually. Then stop lens down until proper exposure is indicated in finder. Naturally camera on tripod with cable release. Good luck!!

Please let us know the results from your lens' UV treatment. I have an identical lens. I had a Ricoh and Pentax Spotmatic, but unfortunately my Ricoh didn't hold up. I still have my Spotmatic.

yea, your Canon seems a bit soft compared to the usual.. though the Flektogon 35mm 2.4 definitely shines regardless. Much better then my Canon 35 f/2 from what I can tell.

I got it bathing in the sun as we speak. Who knows when we get another sunny day here. So I'll let you know how she goes. Probably tonight if I can.
As a suggestion, perhaps it is not an either/or situation. With Pentax glass very reasonably priced on Ebay, why not purchase/keep both 50s. I purchased mint 35, 50, 135 and 200 Pentax lenses (some of which are SMCs), but frankly, have had little time to use them extensively. Considering what they cost, I can take my time in evaluating them. For me, the major advantages are smaller size and lighter weight. Of course, they're quite good optically, too. Manual focus Nikon lenses can be another excellent alternative for EOS bodies, although they typically cost more than Pentax glass.
Can someone pls tell me where these adaptors might be found, either the screw in Pentax mount or the FD to EOS..I have old canon glass and lenses that fit the FD mount and hate to sell them dirt cheap. I am buying the 20D but could go up one level if I didn't have to buy new glass. I have the canon 35-70, 28, 135, 50mm, 55mm macro vivitar,tamron 500 f8 mirror...what clarity I get..two 80-205 zooms, filters, cokin sets etc. If I could use all that glass in the 20D I would save me the cost of the 17-40L and 70-200L...I also have some old screw mount pentax that I used to use in my canon cameras with adaptors...thanks for any help you guys (or gals) might give..the lenses are 25+ yrs old, NO mold, or scratches...been under UV filters, since the day bought

Since there's a lot of research and expertise in this thread, I have a question.
The last film bodies I used were Minolta X-700s purchased in the early 80s. I still have the bodies and some lenses one of which is the Minolta MD 50mm f/1.4. Is there an MD to EOS adapter made? I have my EF 50mm f/1.4 for sale or trade in the B&S forum and since I have the MD I would be interested in trying it on my 20D if it is possible.
