Donagh, yes, the quality of Elpro is good, as you can expect from Leica. 1:2 refers to macro life size ratio, yes, it's good for portrait of not so small bugs seriously, when you talking about portrait (for human), you don't care about 1:2 or 1:1. 90 APO ASPH is NOT a macro lens, thus it can't get you to 1:1. I just bought this lens, and have no plan to sell it yet
