I've bought this lens for awhile, but only got a fotodiox adapter few days ago. This is my first Leica lens, and I am not disappointed All pictures were taken with 20D.
I am sure someone will think "I can do that easily with my Canon XXX". I have to claim that I am not trying to prove what other lenses cannot do, but to show what Leica can do Besides, my short experience with it and really limited photographic skill in the whole don't really justify the power this gem can deliver. I don't even dare to post some of them onto Macro forum
Sapro, these are excellent images. Incredible color and detail. Your images do nothing to take away from the fine reputation of this lens. I'm just trying to prevent myself from thinking too much about this lens or I may begin to rationalize that I need it to go with my 90/2.
Kurt, thank you! Yes, the colors from this lens (and other Leicas) are incredible. The digital sensor can't handle all the colors it renders, I had to de-saturate a little to let histogram contain all RGB. Never happened on any Canon lenses.
Mike, thanks! Yeah, she is my little one. I shot it around noon, the light is not ideal, but I like it anyway.

you can send me the first full size? i am very interest for a super macro quality for my new 1dsm2 , how much pay your lens and adapter
No problem, will do tonight when I get home, the full size is in my home computer. But that image may not show the full resolution power, since it was hand held at 1/30 second to get acceptable DOF. I plan to do some chart test (yeah, gearhead stuff) this weekend, that may be more scientific. I will keep you updated.
I paid $1500 for my copy, which is 3-cam version but really mint, including STA-1 tripod collar. Adapter from fotodiox costs $89, I also have ordered one from Son at $125. Shawn was selling one yesterday on B&S for $1600 including adapter, he must have sold it, since I don't see the post anymore.
Sapro and David...First I've got to digest the 19 I picked up earlier in the week. What do you guys think of the 90 apo? I think it's an amazing little lens.
David, I think I hear your mirror crying out "just cut me Mickey" so you can try the 19 and the 35 summilux.
"Amazing little lens" sums it up well, Kurt. Shawn is selling a 100mm apo macro in the b/s I'd love to modify my camera, but I don't have the stomach for it...Maybe when it turns into the backup camera, until then, I'll learn to live without those two, outstandingly beautiful lenses.
Yes, just saw Shawn posted it again, someone needs to take it Regarding 90 APO ASPH, I have to repeat it again "amazing little lens", it's so small, I can put it in my pocket, and focus with it is so easy. I only got some snapshots on my daughter so far, from what I see, I am not disappointed
Me too, will pass Leica 19 and go straight to 15/2.8 but it will be a long run...
Donagh, I don't have Zeiss 100 Macro, so don't know about the answer. I heard mixed claims. Some said Leica 100 APO is the sharpest lens ever made. But just few days ago, one FM'er did a test between Leica 100 APO and Zeiss 100 Macro, at medium range for portrait, Leica won, but at closeup 1:2 macro, Zeiss was a tad sharper. All I can say is, among the four mid-tele I have, Leica 90 AA, Leica 100 APO, Zeiss 135/2, and Canon 135L, Leica 100 APO is the sharpest, peroid.
Sorry about pictures, I was waiting until I did some chart test. Now they are sent
You don't have to make any modifications to be able to use the Leica Apo-Macro-Elmarit-R 1:2.8/100 on the 1D series. The rear elements are well recessed into the mount.

First of all, 135L and 100 APO are different focal length, 135L is one stop faster. So they are quite different lenses. If just talking about sharpness, yes, 100 APO is sharper from center to corner. And to me, a Leica lens always renders more beautiful color.
leica can closeup on 1:1 or onliy 1:2
Only 1:2, you need Elpro 1:2-1:1 converter to get down to 1:1, you can get a used one around 300 Euro I believe.
the better adapter for eos -leica
I am currently using fotodiox one (search fotodiox on ebay), which is a fine adapter. I am still waiting for Son's to come, and I believe that will be better.
