Now that I'm considering more Zeiss or Leica, what should one look for when considering adapting one of those great lenses to an EOS body--assuming all EOS bodies are the same ( i'm a newb to Canon ). If there is a site that discusses the Zeiss and Leica lenses and their quality and if they are compatible with an EOS body via adapter--where is it?
I checked ebay for Zeiss and there are so many lenses. I'm sure it's the same for Leica.
I'd like to know more and maybe buy more without trial and error.
For Zeiss, so far the only lens I know needs modification to fit on 1D is Planar 100/2. I saw you already have CZ 50/1.7 and 28/2.8, that's a good start. The next one you should look for maybe Distagon 21/2.8
Oh, there are so many "Z" or "L" virus infected people on this forum, and they can give you some great advice.
Are there any intrepid Web designers here that would like to compile the links into a small directory type of site. With all of the knowledge and talent on this board it would probably be a great service to all of us. I remember that Fred was thinking about something earlier and that is still a good possibility. However, an independent site might be a way for others, including Canon, Zeiss and Canon to see that a growing segment of the camera-buying universe has certain needs that aren't being served by any single company. We've moved from hype to trend. I'd be willing to help with any writing help needed.
What we still need is for us FMers who are Zeiss gurus to post the MTFs of the fast anniversaries lenses. These info are not available from any Kyocera publications and/or the internet, but they're available inside every lens sold. We should make them public
I'm gonna bookmark this thread for future reading and research. Excellent post Chris--thank-you!. BTW, I know this site and this particular forum is another excellent source , but I was looking more for what Chris posted

I'll tell what did it for me. Yesterday I mounted my newly acquired 28 2.8 on my newly acquired 1D and fired off some shots wide open. I was amazed at how sharp the images were. I then did the same with the 50 1.7 ( which I almost let get away ). I'm sold
He everyone, thanks for your thanks. All I did though was unload my bookmarks on you! (I'm newly infected, and had to research before buying my first lens this week).
I agree that the links should be put all in one place, although I noticed that some of the sites in the list have many of the links already.

Just when I thought I might be close to an arsenal that would keep me satisfied for a while (once I obtain a 1DS), I discover that I'm not limited to the Canon wide lenses (which have always left me disappointed). Pretty soon I'll be spending rent money on some elusive Zeiss, Leica, or Olympus lens for my FF camera....
Thanks, guys.
