p.1 #1 · The Faint Live in Concert

Thought I'd just show these on FM to get some criticism/feedback... Condition was crappy, there was no bright white light, it was al deep colors and swirling beams, and the occasion intense strobes. I got in trouble near the end too... Security pulled me out and said I'm "shooting with a professional camera without a photo pass"... Whatever

Looks professional to me!

Well done.

Which lens were you using?

Thanks! Kept the Canon 50mm 1.4 on all the time. Didn't want to haul my full bag w/ other lenses into the meat of the concert, so just brought camera with lens only... I ended up dancing quite crazy (cause The Faint rock!) and was holding my camera with one hand while jumping up and down...

heh yea... oh well

yea I'm a color person... I don't like B&W in times when color is what is supposed to be experienced in real life (hence a concert), so I try to capture that as best as I can...

Sorta off topic.. did you ask permission before entering, or did it openly say that cameras were allowed?

I've seen a few people taking pictures at concerts, but I've been frisked and had my camera "removed" trying to get into concerts with a camera before..

Depends on the venue and a lot... As I said, the security guy said "professional camera" so I think some manager of the venue realized something about DSLRs and stuff... Though I think they were being ansy about pictures at all. It didn't say anything coming in. Given that it was my silver DRebel with the grip (so it's huge) and my 50mm lens and it was just slung around me when I entered, so they didn't say anything at the entrance (with the guys checking IDs) or anywhere else... it was only partway through the set... and then I talked to some guy who said he has to check with the band cause the band *sometimes* doesn't like pictures being taken... F--k that, it's my choice! Hah, yeah... Depends on the venue... Dance clubs are much stricter than concert venues...

next time put black gaffers tape over the whole body, the lens itself too, and take off the grip -- it will make ur cam look old and cheap and not a pro camera. this is what i do when i bring in my d70 and 35 f/2 places.

the sooner u realize that ur a guest in their establishment, and that they make the rules, the sooner you can do your job and they can get on with theirs.

well soon enough I'll have a photo pass for every event they hold so they won't need to worry about me anyway

Thanks for sharing these. I just saw them two weeks ago in Cleveland. I totally should have taken my dReb and 28-135 2.8

The Faint's stage lighting and effects, though very random and eccentric, are great for photos.
