I don't think anyone should have to defend their purchases. If you can afford to, why not. I have no problem admitting I like new gadgets and toys, if they also give me better pictures that's only so much better.

If you are a user that requires 2-3 digital bodies at any one time it makes sense to buy each new model. Then the older model is relegated to backup use and eventually is removed from the rotation when the next new camera is purchased.

English is not my first language, but am I right in that "require" can mean both "want" and "need"?
Require in this context means needed to achieve the desired result, not needed for survival such as oxygen, water, food, environment, etc. I am not a photographer, but I break a lot of equipment and need backups.
