I think Tokinas are underrated in general.
They make lenses that are built like tanks, and often perform extremely well.
I've been very satisfied with my Tokina 17mm ATX Pro.
Can somebody post some shots showing how the 12-24mm performs as far as lens flare is concerned?
Also, Marc, how do you rate the image quality vs the 18-55mm kit lens?

I've had very little time to do any real shooting with the lens, basically just some quick shots playing around. Initially I feel image quality should be better than the kit lens.
I don't wont this tread die to. And I farther I dare say that my 1/4 inch glass from Canon A-300 is not quite worse from yours Tokina. http://www.pbase.com/lesterix/image/29387050

So you're saying that the A-300 is comparable to the tokina glass?
Well that doesn't look too bad, but I'm waiting on my Tokina 12-4 to arrive on Monday, too bad I won't be home until Thursday! But! if it gets there before noon, my wife will drive it up to work before I leave, fingers crossed!!

Well at a rough start, when I first placed the lens on and tried to shoot
the Err99 came up and shut down the camera, I thought eh? Reset started
shooting again and it happened again and then a third time, Grant suggested
that I install the lens a few times to get the contacts wiped a little as that
may be the problem, and since trying that it hasn't had the error code.
Here are a few shots taken with it, just some quick shots but I like the
lens so far!
My daughter at the 24mm setting and then the Lemony Snicket book holder
first is at 24mm and then a comparison at the 12mm setting to show how
much more of the room comes into view from the same pov
Thanks guys, I'm glad it commenced to work as well! and yep it's a 77mm filter size, I put my B&W polarizer on it and even with that, there was no vignetting, which I was a little worried because it's not the 'thin' filter but the regular size one, but no problem!

Thanks Russ, I'm still way much a newbie when it comes to PS, the windows were blown out and I tried to reduce them down, but maybe over did it a little on that whole thing.

Well, here is quite the boring shot from outside where I work, the
house across the street is slated to be demolished so as you
can see it's in a sad state of repair but I took the shot to see how
the lens reacted to the direct sun coming into the lens, I don't
think it was too bad...
