p.1 #1 · My first Tokina 12-24 Pics

http://s91227504.onlinehome.us/lbgp05/tokina/a.jpg

All shot with a 20D, JPG Large, no in-camera sharpening, sharpened
with Intellisharpen at settings 15 to 20. ( I didn't realize that I had the ISO set at 800 for some of these pics- I don't like to go over 400 unless I absolutely have to )

12mm, f18, no crop, ISO 800

http://s91227504.onlinehome.us/lbgp05/tokina/ac.jpg

unresized crop of upper left corner

http://s91227504.onlinehome.us/lbgp05/tokina/b.jpg

12mm, f18. no crop, ISO 800

http://s91227504.onlinehome.us/lbgp05/tokina/bc.jpg

unresized crop of upper left corner

http://s91227504.onlinehome.us/lbgp05/tokina/c.jpg

12mm, F14, no crop, ISO 200 ( this pics was about 2 stops
underexposed so after correction, the colors are a bit washed out )

http://s91227504.onlinehome.us/lbgp05/tokina/e.jpg

24mm, f13, cropped by approx 30%, ISO 100

http://s91227504.onlinehome.us/lbgp05/tokina/d.jpg

12mm, f13, cropped by approx 20% vertically only, ISO 200.

This lens is a winner. The construction and fit and finish seems on
a par with my 70-200 f4 L. Almost no perceptible real life CA,
fast and accurate focusing, very sharp.

I'm very happy with it.

That lens is an APS-C only lens like an EF-S. The only superwide that currently fits a FF camera is the sigma 12-24.

Just curious, is APS-C = 1.6x or 1.3x crop ?

the 20d is an APS-C sized sensor and a 1.6 crop. The nikon D70 is a 1.5.

Incidentally, the sigma lens does "fit" on a ff body. but the image circle is designed for an APS-C sensor, so you get something that looks like serious tunnel vision where only the center APS-C-sized square of the sensor gets any light. I think to get wider than about 16mm on a FF camera you have to go fish.

I've used my sigma 12-24 on my film bodies many a time, without getting a tunnel vision effect.

I just got my Tokina 12-24 and the preliminary results are very good. I shoot interiors of houses and weddings. Wow ....what a nice wide angle field of view!!!

Here is a sample from my Saturday wedding.

Will the Tokina 12-24 work on the 1D or 1D MKII (1.3x crop)?
Anyone with the above lens and camera combo, can u try it out?

I bought one over the weekend, and am quite happy with the results and the wide angle of view.

Do you have to use a low profile uv filter on the Tokina?
