this morning on my way to work I did buy the current German "Foto Magazin"
issue because it hold a test of DSLR wide zooms. I want to share the results
in a nutshell with you.

Luminious landscapes review of the 10-22 says f5.6-8 are sharpest, followed by f3.5 & f11 and the rest is down hill
see the chart (lower = sharper)
I am kinda getting nervious because i have the 10-22 and seeing a 69 to 85 and I spent almost twice as much, I have roughtly 7 days to decide if I want to return it. Allthough I love the lens, (some shots below) I really dont want to pay $300 more for 2mm's if it is going to be worse optically (I already like the build of the tokina better
here are some of mine w/ 10-22 ( i know on web they look good, but I would expect any lens of this calliber to be good when resized to 800px)
That P&S image is definitely soft. This isn't a good forum to extol the virtues and sharpness of P&S lenses, even when re-sized for display on the web. Some of the folk around here are used to arguing about sharpness at a pixel level on the Canon 1DsII (images about 5000 by 3300) and can show you pictures with levels of detail that would make you weep.
The Tokina is a standard EF mount lens, but only projects an APS-C sized image so won't work correctly on film bodies (or even the 1D series). It should however be right at home on the 10D.
Has not really over what to choke, the normal lens nothing in him extraordinary, I will bet that every who will buy Tokina, Tamron or Sigma lenses will begin after some time to seek something new.
Can someoen explain the "focus clutch" mechanism that is listed in the description of this lens? I presume it is not full-time manual focus like USM, right? Is it similar to the Sigma EX series where you need to change a switch and slide the focus ring?
Lots of nice shots with this lens posted. Looks like this could be a winner. I love the idea of the fixed f4 on such a wide lens. That seems uncommon.

Similar to Sigma's system but minus the additional switch. Push/pull to go from manual to auto and back.
