the post unfortunetely didn't mention brand but here it is......
" at the moment, it appears that the media I have isn't compatible with all the elements I have in place...so using PSG to burn the DVDs is going to mean I have to purchase other DVD brands besides TDK and Sony. I used some off-brand DVD as a last ditch effort to make the program work (based on that simple suggestion from a forum member) and PSG liked that off-brand DVD for some reason and finally burned a DVD within the program."
I updated my proshowgold to version 2.5 1630 and HEY! no more problems! Thanks for all your help. I used some cheap DVD's to test burn and they work fine.
My slideshow had some video clips, still photos, 2 songs and heaps of zoom effects. I am so happy!!

well.. as a computer guy and being A+ cert.. i suggest that you first look for a patch on there webpage. Also, i would look at the error report and see were it says its going wrong, the from there you can debug it. I would try moving or deleating a good portion of stuff, and then try a burn..
1ghz is very week for rendering.. very week.. i use a 3.2ghz intell p4 and 1gb of corsair XMS PRO with timeings of 2-2-2-5 ... so i get things done fast.
another thing .. download all windows updates.. it may be a problem fixed in a hotfix.. if all else fails, look for a new program.. :-/
I have used PSG for about the last 7 months with great results. I havn't had the issues with freezing up or anything but I can tell you that I have 3 computers ranging from 1.4ghz 750mb ram to a new Dell XPS Gen 2 1gig ram laptop. When it comes to rendering a DVD any of my machines do it but the slower machine takes about 5 times longer to do the same job as the newer machine. I don't know if computer specs could be the result of some of the problems encountered but I know from experience I wouldn't want to wait around to see how long it would take a 1ghz machine to render a DVD.

One thing to look for is that fat32 drive will only support files up to 2gig. If the file you are trying to create is bigger that 2 gig this will cause weired problems with the program creating it. A lot don't trap this error properly and report it.
Similar problem occurs writing DVD's. There is only one format that will support files larger than 2 gig.
To save files larger than to Gig on your drive you have to convert the drive to NTFS.
