Started low and upgraded sooooo many times At first I thought $1300 for 10D was too expensive. Now I look at 1DsII and think, "wow, that's alot but I could swing it!" Sick, sick, sick
300D first Dsrl at all. In 35 mm. I was used to Nikon and Olympus film cameras.
After some month 10D and then 20D, 1D2 and 1Ds2...
Not to speak of the more than dozen lenses I've got for the EOS System.
This 300D changed my way to work.
I'm glad to have switched to Canon

i sold all my nikon gear to go Canon. i started with the 20D and 17-85 IS USM, just bought the 50mm 1.8 and am expanding every chance i get. after being a diehard nikon guy, this was a giant leap for me. i am 100% confident that i have made the correct decision
EB - I hear you on the D2X. Once the price settles down, it may be a bargain. I've been hoping Canon would replace the 1D2 with one more revision before merging 1Ds and 1D into one body to compete with the D2X. I started with the 300D and climbed the ladder; I don't think I could go back to a pro-sumer body.
300D->10D->20D->1D2->1Ds
The 1Ds delivers the best image (IMHO), I just want the same camera with all the 1D2's goodies (fast image review, better LCD, fast read/write). I guess we'll know by football season whether Canon will do one more revision.
1D--->20D
I bought the 1D and thought it was too much for me, but now that I have the 20D w'grip, I often wish I still had that 1D....loved those fps on the 1D

Film EOS3 -> D30.. a few years late..300D->Sold EOS3...
Wish Canon would sell a Digital EOS 3... 1D2 just a little bit too expensive...and I don't want to buy a camera I know I will replace (i.e. 350D/20D).... buying Lenses in the meantime....
Waiting for the 1D Mk3 or Digital EOS3... hope to be £1500-2200... not £3500+
I bought a secondhand D30 on Ebay in April 2003 which was my first DSLR. Up until then I'd been using a Nikon Coolpix 995 digital. Replaced the D30 with a new EOS 10D in March 2004. I've been really happy with the 10D and don't expect to replace it until after the 20D is replaced.
