Looking at the Leica 11606 v5 (ASPH v1) vs 11677 v6 (ASPH v2).
Primary application is landscapes. I would likely be shooting a lot without the hood. Will be shooting a lot into the sun, backlit, in woods (so need decent sharpness stopped down). I want 6 bit coding, so will need the later V1.
I handled the 11677 and found the build a bit lacking; I felt it was on par with a Fuji XF 18mm, not a $2-3K lens. The aperture ring felt toy-like -- I did not have that 'ooh I just bought a Leica lens feeling'.
Plus the big box online retailer who sold it to me 'Like New' omitted the protection ring, plus the brass helicoid had a nasty scratch, and a scratch on the aperture ring. Sending that back.
Before I replace it with another 11677, how does the first aspherical version compare? Is the aperture ring a bit more solid feeling?
I was in your shoes. I read this comparison https://www.streetsilhouettes.com/home/2017/3/12/quick-comparison-two-generations-of-leica-28mm-lenses when I was deciding. I tried both versions out and went with the older version because I mainly shoot on film, Adox 50, Acros 100 and E100 I don't use the hood and 11606 is plenty sharp. I also bought Voigtlander APO Lanthar 28mm and that is my go-to now on the SL body now.
