I have an original Leica Q Typ116 that needs lens /sensor recalibrated. Leica won't touch it and neither will Red Dot Repair.
Any FMer's get one of these repaired lately? Focus to about 12' works fine, infinity focus not so good.
I'm surprised that Leica has stopped doing repairs like calibrations on the Q.
You may want to reach out to KEH camera in Atlanta to see if they can do it. I know that they have their own repair facility, and since they sell just about every used camera, they may have a skilled tech who can do the work on your Q.
FYI, KEH is now the official USA repair site for Zeiss lenses.
I don't know, if it's the difference between the chance of getting a functional camera or not, it would be worth the gamble to me.
When I bring my VW EuroVan Camper (2002) to be checked out because of an issue, I have to pay a non-refundable $125 to get the problem diagnosed and an estimate for repair. The $125 goes towards the work done, but if I say no, I forfeit the diagnostic work. It takes a person and their time to do the diagnostic work and they deserve to be paid for that time...
