p.1 #1 · The Phillip Snyder Farm-Gettysburg Battlefield

This is the Phillip Snyder farm on the outskirts of the battlefield. Phillip Snyder was a German immigrant widower with 2 children. Both children were at the battle. The son was "incorporated"( versus drafted) into the 22nd Pennsylvania Regiment but saw no action during the Gettysburg campaign.
The farm was the starting point for the attack by Hood’s Division on July 2. The farmhouse is a two story log structure on a stone foundation. It is sheathed in a board and batten siding. The house was built in the early 1830s, and it was restored to its 1890s appearance in 1991-92.
I am a huge fan of Matthew Brady's photography but add my own interpretation to the images.
Dan

I converted these but the color ones will appear on another forum. It was last Thursday and it was a fantastic Fall day.
