Sensor Cleaning

p.1 #1 · Sensor Cleaning

The sensor on my R5 has several spots on it, two of which are kinds large.
I have gone through the on-camera sensor cleaning procedures several times and used a hand held blower bulb but the spots don't seem to be moving anywhere.
I have watched a few YT videos and it seems rather straight forward, but there's always that doubt when attempting something for the first time that could potentially cost a lot of money to correct.

SO......I'm looking for any and all tips y'all might have for getting a filthy dirty sensor clean.
I already have a box of 12 swabs. Hopefully that's enough. The cleaner solution arrives tomorrow.

TIA

I will never understand why people are so afraid of wet cleans. Your sensor has cover glass on it, you're not touching the sensor.

I prefer the all in one kits like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D6CVPB4

Either way, just don't get your brush dripping wet...damp only, and slow drags across the sensor with some slight pressure down. Takes 15 seconds.

It's not hard Larry, but if your camera has an option to lock down the IS module, use it. I usually put three drops of sensor cleaner on a swab, let it spread, then swipe across and back using the opposite sides of the swab. Use gentle pressure and repeat if needed. Easy Peasy.

I’ve done wet cleans in the past but now I only do that if somehow there is something sticky on it any more.

For everyday stubborn spots I use a Lenspen Sensorklear pen. Easy to swab, and a quick dust blower after gets anything jarred loose off.

With Canon I very rarely need to clean a sensor, though. God with Sony it was every other day.
