p.1 #1Mac's Image Capture not working with Fuji cameras
I posted this on the Pro Digital board, but I'll try here too: I'm finding that Image Capture on my newly-acquired M1 Mac Studio can't see either of my Fuji cameras (X-T5 or X-H2). I'm connecting with a USB cable (verified OK) to the front panel USB ports, but it just doesn't see the camera. It DOES see an external drive connected to either of those ports, so the ports are OK physically, and my M4 MacBook Pro DOES see the cameras with Image Capture. Both computers are running the latest OS. All of which seems to indicate that there's some incorrect setting in the MacStudio, but I can't find it. Suggestions appreciated.

Well, whaddaya know - that worked! Thanks much. So, the back USB ports work for this and the front ones don't. Do you know if this is by design? Hard to see a reason for that.

I don't know - its a camera model specific thing - my X100VI and X-E5 work fine with the front port but the X-H2S doesn't.
I don't think its to do with the port speed as the X-H2S can transfer images to the iPhone and thats an even slower port than the Mac.

USB ports can also have different power management, which means one might not be able to deliver enough current for the operations needed with the camera on.
Edit: The above can get worse with an unnecessarily long cable. You could try the same failing port with a shorter cable and see if it starts working.

When I had a Sony A7 it would only download through the short and quite flimsy usb cable supplied with the camera. Even high quality ones that would work fine with my Nikon and later Fujis didn't work. That was with a PC and USB 3.0. Possibly something to with impedance?
