p.1 #1Unable to write to memory card error, or rebuild image database message
I have two A7iii purchased from different stores 6 years ago. Each has about 60k shutter clicks. I notice something strange with both cameras recently. After using the mechanical shutter for around 1-2k photos continuously on a day, I would get 'unable to write to memory card' error, or 'rebuild image database' message. Initially I thought the memory cards got bad. So I swap in new ones. But am still getting these problems. This usually happens after shooting for a while with the mechanical shutter (e-shutter has no issues). I am wondering what could be wrong with the cameras? Whats odd is that both cameras are showing similar problem. I was shooting fairly slow, 1-2 click per second max. The cards are all sandisk extreme pro (more than fast enough). I have been using this setup for six years without any issues. Both cameras are in decent shape and never dropped. I never shoot motor sports or wildlife that require continuous shooting.

Have you reformatted the cards in the cameras? File deletions or formatting in a computer can corrupt the card.
I format cards in camera (both card slots) before use each time. I never delete a single image from a camera. Both camera set to record jpeg on card 1 and raw on card 2.

That's an odd combination of issues. If it was one camera, I'd suspect a mechanical shutter failure. But it seems improbable that two cameras would have shutter failures at the same time. As @Jack Flesher mentioned, folder and file numbering sequences can bottleneck. What do the folder/file names look like on the cards after you reformat and take some shots? Folder numbering may hit a limit at 999 and files at 9999. You may need to reset the numbering sequence in the camera menu.
