It's electronic shutter only, what do you expect? Given the concept of the camera this is actually the fastest sensor tech that could possibly be implemented right now. You might be waiting another 5 years for 1/160 and probably some more for 1/250 in this price range as fully stacked and global shutter sensors improve in efficiency enough to trickle down into this price and size segment.
I expect a modern camera to be able to hit 1/100 - 1/200 with no issue, in any shutter mode. A number of cameras can operate flash in electronic shutter, at a reasonable shutter speed. 1/50 isn't reasonable imo. The original Sony A1 is coming up on 6 years of age, and shoots flash very usable even in HSS in full electronic shutter.
We were told the bf and fp are two different cameras for different users. What will happen to the bf then? Is there going to be a bf2? As a purely stills shooter, I much prefer the still focus of the bf and it is just more attractive looking to me and with UI limited to stills. Now the fp2 appears to be much better for stills thanks to the much faster sensor and improved AF and burst mode. With bird detection, it can even stand in for my regular Nikon Z8 😀
I was also one of those who say I don’t need viewfinder and like the spray and pray approach I use with the Ricoh GRIIix. But alas, my aging eyes is making it hard for me to examine what I see without reading glasses. No wonder youngsters have no problems.
