The new CPS 5% cash back starts tomorrow, but the "big white" lenses aren't on the list, other than the RF 100-300 f2.8L
What other big white would anyone in their right mind buy from Canon these days? That is the only big white worth considering.
Hacked together 400, 600, 800 and 1200mm prime lenses?....NO...sorry Canon....please develop something new for the RF mount.

I agree. It’s better value to get a used EF II or III series lens at this point. The 100-300 is tempting but the price is hard to accept especially seeing Nikon offering something with a built in TC (regardless of the higher price).

There's nothing actually wrong with the RF 400mm f2.8L and 600mm f4L lenses other than they could stand to lose a little bit of weight, but I guess that's the price to pay to use a system with the best cameras.

Here's potentially the worst cash back restriction:
3.5. Only one (1) lens and one (1) camera may be claimed per year.
It's unclear if 'year' refers to calendar year or membership period. It's definitely not a proper reincarnation of the old, beloved, Canon Canada CPS pricing program!

CA$ 14K vs $20K... that's really pushing into new pricing territory for a 300/2.8.
But yes, with the TC it's a very versatile lens.

Maybe they mean only one of each camera or lens?
Good thinking, but somehow I suspect not. Their T&C require an edit to remove ambiguity.

The Series III lenses might be better value if the people selling them didn't think they were worth as much as the RF versions, or if they could be used with the RF teleconverters.

I believe it is possible by modifying the adapter. I'm not sure if it can be done with Canon's own EF-RF adapter, but another member here apparently has done so with a third party brand.

Apparently it can be done with some of the cheaper third-party adapters, but the required surgery doesn't leave much material to support the weight of a big (and expensive) lens. I'm not that desperate.
