p.1 #1Alaska wildlife
This set was taken in Seward Harbor before our boat departed for Kanai Fords National Park and in the park. I watched the Bald Eagle fly in and land on the radar and light tower with a salmon and it was consuming it fast. The first photo of it is a huge crop while the second image with the mountain in the background is about 1/2 the frame width. The gull blastoff was quite a site and the artist in me just had to capture it. I did not see what sent them into the air. We saw a lot of harbor seals, particularly on ice flows near the glaciers. I end the set with a Black-legged Kittiwake on it's own private iceflow. The Eagle and gull blastoff were taken in light fog and the Harbor Seals and Kittiwake while standing in heavy rain from the front deck of the boat.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

I think I like the wider view in 2 of the eagle as an environmental portrait, because it showcases the fog and mountains more, and the radar less, heh. I just would like it better with less clutter from the masts.

From this set, #5, of the seals on the ice flows is my pick.

Looks like it was an amazing trip, where even the rainy foggy weather had something to offer.

Thank you Eric,

I agee artistically with your choice of the eagle photos. What I like about the tight crop is that we can see the skeleton of the samon the eagle has mostly eaten. The photo that I wanted did not happen before we set sail and that was the eagle to fly out so that I could get it in the air with the mountains in the background. The photo of the harbor seals has a glacier in the background about 1/2 mile away.

Thank you Chris,

We had a wonderful time and a week later I'm still a bit jet lagged. I've done two shoots since returning with yesterday's of so many hummingbirds it was a lot of fun photographing them as they ate the juleweed.

The Black-legged Kittiwake is soooo cute, catching all my eyes at the very first sight.
