Yours' and Johns' is more than enough. I realize that Canada geese are very common these days and have reach nuisance statis in several places. I just love the image these 2 birds created with their apposing wings.

I have a good friend who shoots mostly what I would describe as "common subjects ". Absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you can make a common subject look "uncommonly good " just think what you can do when you get a "better subject ". So many things affect what makes a good image, subject ,focus, light ,background ,processing ....etc. Everyone learns different, I learn mostly from doing, making mistakes and learning from them. Yes, I have had help in different areas of my photography, along with years of not so good pics. I believe progress is advanced by effort. More effort / more progress.

I happen to like the feel in the picture.
Thinking about the common subject, aren’t most of our birds ‘common’😉

It’s the light, the moment the feel that makes the overall image appealing for me. I could see this image with more sky allowed as well, there is a certain softness/glow that gives this image a bit of unique character. Maybe look bc at it with more breathing room and see if you see another way to also present it👍🏼

Here you go

In the original there was a lot of irrelevant structures on the left hand side that through the magic of LrC DELETE function became sky.
