As per title
Of all the lenses I own
By far my most used is the 40stm (and 24stm) mainly due to their pancake size.
I originally had 3 copies (2 black 1 white) gave one to a friend.
I’ve been on the lookout to replace the one I gave away (the white one is part of the white SL1 kit along with white 18-55, shutter count 209, all boxed and pristine)
For the past few months I’ve seen the prices slowly rising I just assumed it was a trend - maybe a YouTube video had spiked interest??
But it now appears the 40 is fast becoming a cult lens, used prices are sky rocketing. Saw one yesterday, no box listed a £208!!
My copy seems fine, sadly seems to have a fair bit of dust inside and the paint is wearing away but optically it still performs well.
Think I’ll just have to bite the bullet and pay the inflated prices… pretty galling as I paid nothing like this for the one’s I have.
Anyone else noticed the price increase?
Edit..
Just checked prices again.. one has been listed at £328!!! 😳
Maybe locally near you? Right now I can walk in to a second hand section of the Prague's largest camera shop (so it would be most expensive) and have 40STM for about £144...
Edit: pretty much ordinary price (4200CZK) I've been seeing in that shop (and others) for years.
MPB has a ton of them available to ship right now in the UK, with prices ranging from £169 for a like new copy to £133 for a 'good' one with some flaws. Most are in the £155 range. (they also have tons of white ones, which are really rare in the US, but perhaps more plentiful in the UK.
