First, great image. I knew where that was taken prior to seeing the caption. On the rare, clean night, such as this, Cincinnati presents beautifully. Ironically, the best views of Cincinnati are from Northern Kentucky. Heck, we even put our international airport in NKY.
The light trails are on the I-71/I-75 Brent Sprence Bridge. Widely regarded as one of the most outdated bridges, from a traffic standpoint, in all of the US. My father, many years ago, told me that the Brent Sprence Bridge carried more traffic in it's first 25 years, than they ever expected over it's entire lifetime. It is now just over 60 years old. There are zero berms, pullover, spots, or breakdown lane over it's span, which is why traffic can frequently grind to a complete stop.
After decades of finger twiddling, construction has now started on the replacement. Cost has ballooned to a rather staggering 4.4 Billion. If we are lucky, it may finish around 2030.
