I have patiently sat on my front porch for two weeks trying to get this picture. Every time I picked up my camera the hummingbird flew off. My patience paid off today.
I can commiserate with you, Tammy, a nice capture. It's been too hot and humid here to sit and wait on my very infrequent visitors this year. I even had a volunteer pumpkin patch with tons of male blossoms
to attract them this year!

Hi Tammy, patience is a must. Historically where I live, I would see good hummer activity early May. This year activity wasn't good until late June. Put out a feeder late April early May. Be prepared to wait.
this is a beauty Tammy. It's interesting that they are still up in Main as this is the typical time for them to migrate through New York City and I can confirm they are here. This gives me hope that they may still be around when I return from Alaska in two weeks.
I have at least 5 of them hanging around my baskets and my feeders. At least 1 looks like a baby (very small).

Lovely shot Tammy ! I hate to think of the hours I have sat and waited and waited and then the moment I get up and leave, they show up ! These are very lovely shots .
