Hi all, the new 300 arrived, connected it to the A1II and the AF tries to cycle, the f/stop doesn't display and when I hit the AF button the camera throws and error saying the lens isn't mounted correctly or is not compatible with the camera.
I ruled out the camera, my other lenses work fine.
I added a 2x to the 300 and same issues. I'm assuming it's the contacts at this point. I used a Qtip (dry) to clean off anything on the contacts I can't see, it's new, they look new... same issue.
Anyone experience this issue with any other lenses? Did you just return it or did you have a fix that worked?
I've reached out for a return label but if there's something I'm missing or can do... I'm all ears.

Don't bother messing around with a brand new but non-functioning lens/camera/item. It should work each time and if it doesn't right off the bat, how can you trust it down the road to work each time. I would return the lens right away, if I were you...

I've requested a return shipping label, I hope they have a replacement they can send out once this one hits UPS.

Ditto to what Joshua wrote, but I'll add my sympathies. It sucks to make the decision, spend the money, get all excited for the shipping, and have nothing but disappointment and more waiting to show for it.

Yeah, it sucks... I'll send it back and hopefully they have a replacement on hand to ship out.

Hatch, I am not sure where you bought the lens from. Does the store have to wait for and inspect the faulty lens first before they send out a new one? Maybe I am too spoiled with A*****n... I don't remember of any case that I had to return something to them to recall/know how B&H handles this situation...

Not B&H but the shop is going to issue a return, just waiting on confirmation they have a replacement to send out. I've returned a couple things back to B&H in the past with no issue... quality service.

Tighten the screws on the lens and your camera. Or send it back…as I see is what you are doing.
There is a high chance it is the screws on your camera’s lens mount and your other lenses aren’t putting as much pressure on it. Or it could be the screws on the rear mount of the new lens.
Even if you just send it back I’d acquire a JIS 00 screw driver and double check if the screws are all tight on the A1II.

I will add though: I have experienced dirty contacts that took multiple cleans.
A brand new Sony 1.4 TC came good after a few alcohol cleans did not resolve, then used an eraser, success

I'll take a look to see if they are tight or not, thanks for the suggestion. The camera is pretty new but you never know I suppose.
