p.1 #1Moonrise in the Rockies
Caught the nearly full moon rising over the mountains this evening just as the last color of twilight was fading. The scattered clouds were in just the right places to make the scene a little more interesting. Two frames from the evening — thanks for looking!

Both excellent. Perfect exposure and processing. The clouds add just the right accent.

Absolutely gorgeous, Scott! Both work well. If I had to choose probably #2 with it being a little tighter and that cool wisp of cloud in front of moon.

if you care the big chunky peak right of center is Gold Dust Peak, and the high point left of center is actually unnamed. Vail area of course you know that. Thanks for posting, brings me great memories seeing these quiet peaks.

Thank you for sharing these. I love the drama of the twilight tones combining with the moonrise in these two beautiful frames.

Did you spend time here or live here? I love it up those mountains, summited Gold Dust Peak a few years ago and it was spectacular. I can actually see that mountain from my office window! And the unnamed one you are referring to is locally known as Finnegan Peak. I appreciate your comment, thanks!

Thanks! I’m pleased it came together. I was scouting this area a couple days before as well as on PhotoPills app hoping the moon would come over the peaks like this and happy it did. The planning was key!
