p.1 #1Calaska #2 - wildflowers
Continuing with some land-based images from the Gilke and Eagle glaciers on the Juneau icefield. If you are wondering where Calaska is, you may want to read the intro to the first post in this series

#1 Alpine Avens

#2 Puffballs past their prime

#3 Snowflowers

#4 Change of scenery - lupins

#5 Heathers

#6 Ferns and fireweed from last year's trip

#7 More fireweed from last year

#8 Not quite a wildflower, but a dead leaf embedded in the glacier, likely blown in from the coast

Larger sized images from this and past trips to the northern reaches of North America are here

Amazing contrast, flowers to snowy peaks and glaciers. Beautiful light and clouds complete the compositions.

Great set. Number 2 and 6 are my favourites. Beatiful colors and composition.

Yes, the light on the other ones was less than stellar and I am not one to put light in images where there is none

Agree. #2 is a shot that exists for only about 5s when the sun first peeks above that ridge. I need to work on the color balance a bit, the sky is has a greenish overcast on it, and the light was nice and warm.

#6 is pretty surprising to find but fairly common over the high ridges ot the Juneau ice field. Seems that winds are blowing dead leaves in from the coast each fall, they get covered by snow for the winder and melt out in the summer and decay to nothing over several years.

Great perspective! It really captures the scale of the mountains.
