p.1 #1 · Need Some Help - I Can not get PS to show the focus Point

I am using Lightroom Classic, latest version and PS latest version.

My process in normally - download photos to Lightroom Classic and the - Edit in PS option. I moves the files to PS and shows the file type as Sony raw ARW

However, the view focus point is grayed out in PS. If I just drop the file from the hard drive direct into PS it is there.

Something is happening in the transfer from Lightroom Classic to Photoshop.

Any ideas

( I have tried calling Adobe several times , get through all. the prompts and then it says thank you for calling Adobe - Good bye and hangs up )

Thanks in advance for any help on settings I might have wrong or need to change - thank you

When you "Edit In" in LR, it's not sending a RAW file to PS, even though it says "file name.ARW". It's a TIFF or whatever you've selected in your preferences. Opening it directly in PS, actually ACR, it is a RAW file.

If you want to go through Lightroom Classic as part of your workflow, instead of using "Edit In Photoshop" use "Open as Smart Object in PS".

This opens the image in PS but you then need to go into ACR to see the focus point. Do not use the Filter Menu to open ACR, instead use the Layer palette and double click on the image thumbnail. This opens ACR and allows you to show the focus point by right clicking on the image. It also allows you to re-edit any adjustments you made in LRC (which won't appear if you use the Filter menu).

I've never seen a focus point show in any Adobe software. I don't think it will.

Here is some info about a focus point plugin for LRc

https://www.lightroomqueen.com/community/threads/free-focus-points-plugin-for-lrc-greatly-improved-version-v3-available.52601/

I installed it, get an error message, but it works nevertheless and shows the focus point.

Looks like they deleted the GitHub page. I downloaded it end of July 2026. Kind of strange.
