p.1 #1Wild Mushrooms
This summer has been so hot and humid, July "thee" hottest month ever recorded, that these huge "softball sized"globes or the flat saucer topped 'shrooms are everywhere...The texture was very coarse vesus the edible "shrooms" that have a soft smooth cap.
I have to keep a camera with me because kids destroy them because they are so unique and large! and kids are kids....

Beautiful, highly detailed images, Dan. With these mushrooms, look but don't eat. They appear to be a type of Amanita Muscaria which can be very toxic. Some people eat them as hallucinogens. Are they red or orange?

PURE white brother!!!

I posted these or their "couzins" in another post.
The morning was extremely hot and humid for 930am..a shower passed and left the hot pavement, sidewalk and even the grass emitting a haze...These caught my eye immediately! Bright white, haze, !

Turned around and grabbed my camera.

A constructive remark was made about "blown highlights"..Agree but I did explain...": Blown highlights visually evoke extreme weather conditions, such as blinding mid-day summer(albeit early morn) heat or cold, harsh winter fog....."

These "shrooms" had character and were huge!
Thanks!
Dan

No need to "kid" brother! I have re-occurring skin cancer on my scalp and had 1 growth removed from my left clavicle last year..benign...My scalp looks like a "checkerboard" with the discoloration of the skin tone as a result of frozen nitrogen applications to "kill" pre-cancerous growths.

In fact a result of the 20+ years of this procedure have left, what little amount of have folicles I do have left, have died and I have NOT had to have a hair trim in 2 years..

If your post refers to the "shrooms" and their psychedelic affect.....groovy man!
Thanks!

Thank you lazlo!
The mushrooms had "raised" pieces all over the tops...the flat topped one looked like a toasted marshmellow with golden edges...

Startling white on a gloomy day!!!

Great shots, anyway. And I still wouldn't eat them.

I went to get coffee this morning and these are sprouting where people had destoryed the adult mushrooms. Maybe I should grab my camera a get a shot of the "baby"!?

No I would NOT even think about eating them Brent....
I can get fresh grown mushrooms near me and if all else fails, drive to Kennet Square, Pa., the "Mushroom Capital" of the World!
MY Italian grandmother always had a bowl of pickled mushrooms on the table to munch on. Yummo!
