I have a couple of schneider-kreuznach tele-xenar 90mm f/3.8s which were previously in ROBOT Motor-Recorder 36 DCE speed camera systems and I'm looking to adapt them to m42, then my L-mount (or mft) camera body.
I've tried a couple of adapters (m32x0.75, an AliExpress M26-M42), none have seemed to work. The m32 adapter almost fit, but was slightly too big and I suspect there is a bit more than just the threading which mismatches.

I mount unusual lenses, by cutting a hole of about the right diameter, in a body cap of the desired mount. In this case, a M42 body cap. You'd then screw this body cap-mounted lens into the M42 adapter. OTOH, you can skip the M42 adapter, and use a body cap of the actual camera that you will use (e.g. Nikon Z, Canon R, etc.).
You can attach the lens to the drilled body cap by friction fit, and then make it more secure, if you decide to actually use it. I used to use RTV adhesive for this, but I found that it gets hard and brittle after about ten years. Since then (more than ten years ago), I've been using Shoe Goo, which sticks to just about anything, and retains slight elasticity for basically ever. Also, it's not too difficult to detach Shoe Gooed things, as long as they have nice hard surfaces, like a lens mount.
Of course, this assumes you can match the focal-flange distance of the lens (aka register), on the camera. Most of my kludges are used on a M645 Auto Bellows system, which gets infinity focus for most normal and longer lenses; some shorter ones, too. Also, a shallow helical focus adapter can get you to, or near to infinity focus, on many contemporary, mirrorless bodies, but not so much on DSLR and SLR.
