Yes, two questions about issues with my Epson printer today...
I was going to do a firmware update on my P9000 today, but it the application (on MacOS) that installs firmware updates asked me to enter an Administrator Password for the printer before proceeding. The last time I updated printer firmware — over a year ago — I do not recall getting that question.
I tried the usual Epson-recommended options: entering the printer serial number, admin, dpeson. 000, and so forth. Nothing works.
I do not recall ever actually adding an administrator password for this printer, but now I'm locked out of these low level controls such as firmware updating.
I get the impression that there is some work around to resolve this. One site suggested some steps on the printer's front panel interface, but that did not work. Others suggested looking for the password on a panel on the printer, but that does not seem to exist.
Ideas anyone? Before I try to contact Epson support? (Which I am learning is not exactly easy.)

Long shot: It may be a Mac thing -- did you try using your Mac PW?
That said, I had a similar issue with an older HP laser printer a few months back. Was a PITA. I eventually had to change the admin PW on the laser printer to get new software to install.

First, make sure the Apple AirPrint driver is not installed and rather the Epson Printer Driver
If you already done that, don't assume that all the media has been installed. For my P900, in the Applications Folder under Epson Software, there is another folder named "Epson Media Installer", and the app you want to run is "Epson Media Installer.app"
That would be the first two steps I would take.
