p.1 #1Problem seeing Epson printer profiles in Photoshop "Printer Profile list
Today I was going to print on my Epson p9000 printer using some new Epson papers that I have not used before. But I'm having a heck of time getting the Photoshop Print Settings window to show the factory profiles. (Normally I profile papers myself, and I've been using the profiles I created for other Epson and non-Epson papers — the problem is seeing the generic Epson "factory" profiles for these new papers.
I reinstalled the Epson drivers for the P9000 which is supposed to install the Epson profiles. I also deleted and re-added the P9000 (IP version) printer in the Apple Printers and Scanners section of the Mac OS System Settings.
When I print in Photoshop the Photoshop Print Settings dialog appears. I select my p9000. I set Color Handling to "Photoshop Manages Colors." So far nothing unusual.
Next, in this same window, I go to the "Printer Profile" popup menu. I see many paper profiles there — quite a few of which are irrelevant to me. I see my custom printer profiles that I created. But I do not see any of the factory Epson paper profits.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on how to find and install those Epson factory profiles so that the appear here.

My Epson profiles would disappear from Ps and LrC every time I upgraded MacOs. I copied them as described in GoodEgg's second link and never had the problem again.
While randomly pondering since I posted, it occurred to me that these profiles must be _somewhere_ on the computer, since running the driver installed/updater is supposed to automatically install them. I was thinking that today I would start searching for them manually, but i’ll use these links as guides to doing it more efficiently.

I had the same issue with my Epson 9880 each time I updated the system it would lose track of where the epson profiles were.
To resolve the issue on my Mac I found the the epson profiles located in:
Library/ColorSync/profiles/printers/EPSON/inkjetPrinter2/iccprofile/Pro9880_7880.profiles
(The file is 71.2 mb on my system, there are a couple similarly names)
I Copied it to Library/Colorsync/profiles
That’s where you add custom profiles and it resolved the issue until next update (grin)
It seems manufactures are not concerned with old hardware that’s out there that people paid good money for and still work i1Pro anybody….

The reality is Epson should update their FW to work with current OS's. Of course their motivation is most likely to sell a new printer instead... I personally am going to be looking at Canon printers this time around.
Dan, one relatively inexpensive option would be to get an older Mac mini and use it as a dedicated print unit on a network...

Thanks.
Your post gave me a hint to look for the Epson printers folder, and I discovered that it was apparently installed in a _backkup_ drive copy of the system files and not in the actual system. (What the heck is up with that!?)
I've duplicated the folder and put it in the correct Library folder and now we'll see what happens when I reboot...

First a reply to Jack...
Epson has a long history of not being very good about dealing with OS compatibility — all the way back to my first Epson printer, which I think was the 2800 or 2880 or something. There were times when early printers would not work with new versions of the OS for months at a time.
And, yes, they seem to let old, workhorse printers go unsupported too soon.
You would think that Epson might pay attention to the many users like you (and my wife) who moved away from Epson to Canon as a result. (She actually had several Epson wide-format printers and had problems with each of them, both hardware related and connected to software compatibility issues.)
Unfortunately, I'm not sure that the Canon situation is going to be much better in the long run. She got a new large format Canon printer recently. It make beautiful prints, but th interface has some real oddities and she run into issues each time she's done an OS upgrade... than necessitated reinstalling printer drives.
Groan.

But on a more positive note, thanks to that advice in the post above from Alan4color (THANK YOU!) I was able to sort out my very bizarre issue. For some reason, the Epson folder in side the Mac OS System Library folder had been installed into a BACKUP COPY of my drive and not on the main drive. (I'm still perplexed about how the heck THAT happened.)
I found the folder with the various Epson support files that should have been in the Library of my internet boot drive and copied the whole thing manually into the Library folder in the correct location. I rebooted and now I see a long list of profiles for all of the Epson papers in the Photoshop print dialog. Yay!

I still don't have a solution to the other problem (in a companion post in this forum) where I'm locked out of various admin functions on my P9000 (including the ability to update the firmware) because it wants a password that I did not create and don't use. I suspect that there must be some way to reset the printer to factory defaults, and that that may let me actually create a password that I'll record, but still not sure...
