This is the same on any brand if you use the ports. I know Sony allow some accessories via the hotshoe but not many of them like HDMI out. And the audio adaptor on the Sony isn't actaully weathersealed. He's basically whinging about an issue that's shared across every brand on the market.

His Sony's are no better than the Leica and yet he doesn't bother to mention that. Is there any system that offers a fully wethersealed set of video ports?

To me it was kind of a half truth.

Yeah, I saw that ... and tbh ... the way he made that out to be such a big deal (ummm, remember he was looking for something to shake up his creative mojo at the beginning of his quest) as being the "last straw" or the "nail in the coffin" OMG deal breaker drama told me way more about what he was really doing / saying.

To Gordon's point, the edge use case of doing video / audio in the elements ... seriously, if you're gonna be doing "elements" kind of work like that, those who are serious about it are going to have other ways of dealing with the elements, too.

This dude gave up WAY too easy, WAY too soon. Imo, he wasn't on a true creative mission re-invention journey, he was on an influencer mission of a different matter.

I might be in the minority but I really couldn't give a crap about the menu system in a camera. The way I shoot I usually set it up once with a couple of custom settings and after that I don't do anything in the menus again. Just get it to where you like it for whatever purpose; for me it's generally autofocus setup to track moving subjects well enough, manual mode, auto ISO with exposure compensation somewhere handy and a quick way to swap into manual ISO. Then I'm done.

Same here, except I do not think we are the minority, instead I think we are the silent majority. Silent, because we are out there shooting rather than complaining about a problem that is easily solved if one bothered to apply themselves for a few minutes.

Maybe a three-quarters truth. Sony have several doors for the plugs. There is one door with in/out audio, so if you plug in a mic and a set of headphones, it is protected.

And he was wrong about that as well, they are sealed inside the body just like the Apple iphone connections are. You could remove the cover and still take it into dust or rain without any problem. I know because Ive don that with my old sl2 before (the port cover was ripped off because I was an idiot lol)
