I used it for my Sony A II that I just sold and the fit was perfect although it was originally designed for the A9 III as the label shows. It comes with an Allen wrench stored under the base plate using magnet. I don't see any visible scratches or gouges. But it has been used.

Just a little tidbit on L-brackets. BTW, yes, the vertical extension can be taken off and it works as just a base plate. As an L-bracket, it performs exactly as it should. You might ask, “Why buy an L-bracket when a base plate does essentially the same thing?” Here’s why.

Imagine you’ve mounted your camera on a tripod and carefully composed your shot. Suddenly, you realize the composition would work better in vertical orientation. With an L-bracket, you simply remove the camera from the ball head, rotate it 90 degrees, and remount it using the vertical side of the bracket. The camera stays centered over the tripod, so your composition remains virtually unchanged.

If, instead, you tilt the ball head into the drop notch to shoot vertically, the camera shifts to one side and lower, changing both the camera position and the composition. This difference becomes even more significant when shooting close-up or macro subjects, where even a small shift in camera position can noticeably alter the framing.

For that reason, I personally consider an L-bracket much more valuable than a simple base plate. As a bonus, it also provides some protection for the side of the camera. Some photographers go a step further and use a full camera cage, which offers additional mounting points and protection, although those are generally more beneficial for video shooters than for still photographers.

Thank you for stopping by and feel free to ask any questions.

I used it for my Sony A7r V and A1 that were sold quite some time ago. But I didn't put this up for sale until now. The fit was perfect on both although the label shows for Sony A7r V. It comes with an Allen wrench stored under the base plate using magnet. I don't see any visible scratches or gouges. But it has been used.

Thank you for stopping by and feel free to ask any questions.
