Every May I head to Yellowstone (and the Tetons) with my wife, and we meet up with a friend of ours who lives in Idaho. I go in May to be there before it gets crazy crowded, and the wildlife is always active as they have recently woken up from the harsh winter. This year we were fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time with a pair of know grizzlies, Quill and Snow, who were hanging out together near the road. They had been mating so were seemingly quite cozy with each other. There were a lot of people there, and the bears were probably a bit closer than the required 100 yards, but the rangers were also there and they were comfortable with the way the bears and the people were all acting. It was a special experience for me to be able to watch these two for so long as they hung out, snuggled, and played.
