I just ordered a copy of this lens to pair with my R100
I note the filter size is 52mm
Will the old Penny washer styled hood off the EFs 24mm 2.8 pancake work on the RF 24 fitted to crop bodies?
Trying to keep it all as compact as possible. Use those hoods on both 14-30 PZ and 50/1.8 with adapter rings
I’m assuming as the RF 24/1.8 is primarily FF fitting to the crop sensor body should be fine with zero vignetting issues?
Can anyone confirm?
Was going to order another ES-52 ready for the arrival of the RF 24/1.8

It is a great lens on a crop body, with very low vignetting and of course no mechanical vignetting. I use a rubber hood with mine and that works fine. I am not sure about the ones you are describing as I never tried them.

The rubber hood is a good idea as it acts as a bumper - I no longer tend to use protruding hoods that are rigid and screw on to the filter threads as any knocks sends the shock wave reverberating through the lens (and optical train) which can’t be a good thing. I guess that’s why they bayonet fit onto the casing these days?
I use a cheap but good JJC LH-W65B lens hood which also protects the extending tube.
I’d never screw an ES-52 or anything like that with screw thread onto it.

Well the hood for the 35/1.8 macro is the same principle as the ES-52??
My 35/1.8 has said hood fitted… works fine??
I don’t like drawing attention to myself and fitting large hoods increases the length and attracts attention
My 70-200/2.8 came with OEM hood…ugh
I bought a cheap knock off and cut it down 2/3rds… with a grinder!!
Works great, gives protection and shades the glass. I’ve since bought 3rd party hoods for other lenses and chopped them down too!! 🤣👍🏻
