The osprey chicks have hit that explosive growth phase where every day brings a new milestone. Both adults are running a nonstop fish shuttle to keep up, and the female still has to parcel out each meal since the youngsters haven’t quite mastered tearing off their own pieces.
This week brought the first real wing workouts — big stretches, frantic flapping, and those hilarious little hops that mean flight school is right around the corner. Watching them test their wings is half comedy, half wonder, and all the reason to keep the camera ready.

Wow, these are beautiful images! I agree with the other comments that the eye level view is great. I hope to see more of your photos as they progress toward fledging.

Thanks Gary, I appreciate your comments. I feel very fortunate the nest I've been shooting is almost exactly at eye level, in comparison to most nests that are so high the angles of the shots are extreme.

Thanks very much Dave, I'll be keeping an eye on the nest as the chicks start their jumping and wing flapping in preparations for their first flight.
