p.1 #1 · Are Sony A7R6 and Zeiss Loxia lenses compatible
I remember many reports that some Zeiss Loxia lenses don’t work well with newer Sony cameras as Sony A7R5. I have the Loxia 25mm and 21mm and use them with the Sony A7R3 without issues. I would like to upgrade to the A7R6. Any experience, and guidance / help. Thanks a lot!

I'm assuming you are talking about the issue where the camera randomly jumps into and out of focus magnify mode. If you are, then yes, for me the issue is present with my A7RVI and Loxia 21mm. I swapped the lens back to my A1 just to confirm the behaviour again and yes it was the same.I'm only a sample of one though!

This is good to know, Derrick. Does the issue go away if you turn off that focus magnification feature in the menu? I find with the high-res screen on A7RV & VI I can manually focus pretty easily without magnification.

I heard rumors that the component that reads the aperture change, forget what it's called (encoder?), needs to be replaced. Some are faulty, something like that. With my latest a7R V firmware, my Loxias that have the issue seem a bit better. At least wide open they seem better.
From best to worst in terms of the problem for my Loxias...

I have the Loxia 21mm & the R6, and it doesn't seem to have any problems with the focus magnify mode, with peaking on or off. It shows the lens firmware Version as " .01".

Hi Ross
The problem does not appear if I don't use focus magnification. I currently have auto-magnifier set to off but focus magnifier assigned to a custom button so I check my manual focus. When I hit that custom button to check and fine tune focus, it jumps out of magnified view to normal view, randomly. This makes it difficult to check my focus accuracy. For me it's worst at f/2.8 and every stop down it get's better. No idea why.
Cheers
Derrick
